Fiverr® Review – The Five-Dollar Marketplace
To follow along, check out www.Fiverr.com.
In this Fiverr® review, we will be going over five different categories that are the foundation of any online marketplace. Ease of marketplace use, the buyer and seller community, the potential to make money, customer support, and the ease of withdrawing your earned funds. We will be reviewing Fiverr® from both a buyer and a seller perspective, so hopefully we will clear up any questions you may have regarding the “Five Dollar Marketplace.”
Fiverr® Ease of Use
Fiverr® is an extremely easy website to use. Fiverr® offers extensive search capabilities for buyers, and tons of categories to narrow down exactly what a seller is offering for sale. The GUI is pleasant to the eye, and the font is large enough for people of any age to read the website without any issue.
What Fiverr® offers you gigs from $5 (gigs are a project you would like to be done. With Fiverr you can either buy gigs for example you need seo or video to be done or if you would like to set up gigs to seller to others. In my opinion fiverr is one of the best freelancers website that offers seo for as little as $5 compared to an SEO service that could of cost you $2000+.
Potential to Make Money on Fiverr®
Fiverr® offers sellers an almost endless supply of categories you can list in when selling on their site. From downright odd “user-made” videos depicting old men dressing up like babies to sing happy birthday, to desperate sounding gigs titled things such as, “I will pretend to be your girlfriend on Facebook for a week.” Odd yes, but the selection is wonderful, and Fiverr® has almost everything you could ever want (or not want) to buy. Fiverr® does a lot of their own marketing to help promote your gigs, which is great because it allows you to save the money you make without having to pay to promote your own stuff. There really isn’t any sort of requirement to promote your own gigs to generate sales, save for maybe a post or two on Facebook or Twitter if you like. Fiverr® has a nicely laid out search engine that buyers can sift through easily and if you have any high rated gigs, they will go out on occasion in Fiverr® email news blasts, which happen daily. We typically get around 12k-15k impressions on our gigs monthly, with a click through rate of a few percent. We don’t do any outside marketing or social sharing ourselves, instead we are content letting Fiverr® handle our marketing for us.
Selling on Fiverr® isn’t all sunshine and rainbows though, as they actually take a pretty hefty cut of your profits, keeping $1 out of every $5 sale. (20% of the total purchase price.) Even though 20% is a pretty large amount, it doesn’t feel as devastating compared to a marketplace like eBay because all of the gig deliveries are free. What we mean is that when selling on eBay, products cost money to list up-front, cost money to ship, and then the final value fee gets taken out of the full purchase price of the item. (This final value fee includes your shipping cost as well.) With Fiverr®, delivering a gig requires only your time and effort. In addition to the 20%, Fiverr® also seems to take a small cut out of the funds you have stashed away when you request a payout, and then PayPal takes their 3% slice of the pie. The dollar figure seems to vary from a few cents to a few dollars at most, so it’s best to wait until you have a small fortune ($40-$50 bucks or so) in Fiverr® holding before you request a Payout.
You definitely won’t get rich selling on Fiverr®, but you can certainly make an extra few hundred bucks per month utilizing only a few hours to deliver your sold gigs. Some of the top rated sellers do manage to rake in the dough, but they treat Fiverr® as a full time job, delivering dozens of gigs per day. Wrapping up the Fiverr® review category “potential revenue” – we decided to rank it 4.5/5 stars. The potential to earn big is there, but be wary of biting off more than you can chew. The sold gigs pile up fast and you can get lost in the shuffle pretty easily.
Fiverr® Review of Customer Support
As mentioned earlier we are not fond of the customer service provided by Fiverr®. From cases like the one described above to dreadfully long response times, (48 hours plus in most cases) the customer support leaves much to be desired. Since the seller “to-do” panel is buggy and you have to constantly request support to clear it, even then it’s a hit or a miss. Sometimes it works, sometimes not, and if it doesn’t clear the first time you have to go through the process of contacting and waiting all over again. If it was just a rare occurrence of extreme disappointment dealing with customer service we would have rated this category higher, but sadly it seems to be a reoccurring theme. Roughly 60% of our support tickets have been returned by a rude woman who wasn’t interested in helping us, and after listening to her grizzly “service” response we weren’t much interested in having her help us either. After waiting 48 hours for support to respond to a problem, seeing her face pop up in the support panel just doesn’t leave the best taste in your mouth. (We actually pretty much quit contacting support after a while due to disappointment. Actually as it stands now we have 5 cancelled orders that are “stuck” on our seller “to-do” list, rubbing our faces in the fact that we missed out on $35!) Overall we hit this category the lowest on our Fiverr® Review thus far, with just a 2/5 star rating. Perhaps the next time we are forced to offer forth an inquiry we won’t get a minion from the devils personal torture chamber as a support technician, and maybe we can reconsider the C-Minus report-star grade.
Withdrawing Earned Funds
Finally, a category where Fiverr® stands head and shoulders above of the competition. As many of you know who have tried to make money online before, requesting payout is usually racked with roadblocks, stop signs and pitfalls. We’ve heard them all before; a “minimum balance to request payout” or “payment made by checks only via snail mail” or how about “payment will take 4-6 weeks to clear and 8 weeks to direct deposit into your checking account, payment is made once every 90 days.” Well with Fiverr®, you can put those headaches behind you. Fiverr® offers INSTANT withdraw into your PayPal account, with the click of a button. Seriously. Click the button, verify the payout with a email verification (to prevent hackers from stealing your money) and 30 seconds to 2 minutes later the money is ready to be spent, right off your PayPal debit card.(Those of you familiar with survey sites or content locker garbage are breathing a collective sigh of relief, I’m sure.) I’ve actually been waiting in line at Wal-Mart to check out before and requested a payment while the cashier was scanning my stuff. I got the funds just in time. (Though we wouldn’t advise this, as once in a while it takes more than a minute or two.)
We must admit that Fiverr® did a great job designing the payout process- Although the funds take 21 days to clear, (to give the buyers an opportunity to request a refund if they are unhappy with their purchase) after the 21 day waiting period the money is yours to be had. No waiting, no checks, no minimum balance. Just request, confirm, and spend. The ease of withdrawing your funds snags a perfect 5/5 stars for being the most streamlined, no BS process that we’ve ever used. Honestly, good job on this one Fiverr. It almost makes up for the she-devil support rep. who specializes in customer regret and disappointment.
